Grandfather and father sentenced to life imprisonment

Additional Public Prosecutor Mahendra Prasad Singh said that while hearing on the point of punishment in Madanpur police station case number-216/22, two accused in jail have been sentenced. APP Mahendra Prasad Singh said that the body of a girl was recovered from Baghar of Manjhar village of Madanpur police station on 7 May 2022. The village watchman informed the Madanpur police station in-charge about this by phone.
He told that the dead body of a girl was lying in Manjhar Baghar. On reaching the spot, it was seen that there was a black mark on the neck of the girl and scratches on both her arms. Information was received from the people present on the spot that the deceased was the daughter of Raja Ram, a resident of Bahuara village of Aurangabad Mufassil police station. After this, the police reached the spot, prepared a death review report and sent the body to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
When the police reached Rajaram’s house regarding the matter, the girl’s father Raja Ram and grandfather Kailash Ram were absconding. In this case, the girl’s mother Kanti Devi told the police that her daughter was having an affair with a relative. Due to fear of defamation, the girl’s father and grandfather were talking about getting her married somewhere else, but the girl did not agree.
After this, in anger, the girl’s father and grandfather took the girl out of the house on the dark night of 06 May 2022 and returned without the girl. On this, the girl’s mother asked where the girl was, then both of them said that for the honor of the family, they have killed the girl. You keep quiet. After this, the then Madanpur police station in-charge registered a case as an informant.
In the FIR, it was alleged that the girl’s father and grandfather killed the girl as part of a conspiracy because of her love affair with a relative. In the same case, the court sentenced the accused father Raja Ram and grandfather Kailash Ram, residents of Bahuara of Aurangabad Mufassil police station, to life imprisonment under Section 302/34 of the Indian Penal Code and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each. In case of non-payment of the fine, the court has made a provision of one year of simple imprisonment.
Also, the court sentenced both the accused to four years imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees each under section 201/34 of the Indian Penal Code. The court has made a provision of additional imprisonment of six months if the fine is not paid. All the sentences will run simultaneously. Advocate Satish Kumar Snehi said that in the case, the police had filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court on 4 August 2022. After this, the court had framed the charges on 12 January 2023. In the same case, the court today sentenced both the accused.
